Finn Balor had a different original plan for NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin.
Due to COVID, NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin never took place after originally being announced for April 26, 2020.
Finn Balor was set to take part in the event, and his original opponent was a WWE Hall of Famer who had just returned at the Royal Rumble.
"We were building to a Dublin TakeOver. It was supposed to happen in April 2020 when things shutdown. It got postponed until October and eventually got canceled. The match was supposed to be Finn Balor vs. Edge. That got kind of canceled and postponed and we started to work towards me and WALTER. Then the wheels fell off," said Balor on What's The Story.
Edge (Adam Copeland in AEW) came out of retirement at the 2020 Royal Rumble. Balor and Edge would eventually cross paths in 2022, leading all the way to WrestleMania 39 when they met inside Hell in a Cell.
Elsewhere during the interview, Balor revealed his new WWE deal is for five years. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
