Finn Balor Would Like More Creative Control Over The Demon, Won't Return For 'Foreseeable Future'

Fans haven't seen Finn Balor's Demon side since WWE Extreme Rules 2021, when The Demon lost to Roman Reigns after the top rope turnbuckle snapped.

Balor has channeled The Demon throughout his WWE and NXT career, largely to in-ring success including NXT and WWE Universal Championship wins.

Balor's first main roster bout as The Demon came at SummerSlam 2016 when he defeated Seth Rollins to become the first-ever WWE Universal Champion. With SummerSlam taking place on July 30, Balor was asked on the Cheap Heat podcast if the Demon would be returning soon.

"The Demon definitely has a special relationship with SummerSlam. He's had some of his most successful nights at SummerSlam. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. There will be no Demon [at WWE SummerSlam]. There will be no Demon in the foreseeable future. Once we kind of finish this story arc with The Judgment Day, we'll get back on track with the Demon," he said.

When asked about having creative control over The Demon character, Balor replied, "I would like more creative control over the Demon. A lot more. I would execute it a lot differently if it was given to me to babysit. Working with a company that has so many different levels of management and different departments that need to be kept happy, something you lose is some of that creative license that you have when you're independent. Obviously, as a perfectionist and something that I created, I would like more control over it, but I understand the limitations when I work for a company like WWE."

Later in the interview, a fan asked about The Demon leading Balor Club.

"There is an absolute, 100% chance that once the Judgment Day story arc finishes, The Demon could return as the leader of Balor Club," he replied.

Balor is currently part of The Judgment Day alongside Rhea Ripley & Damian Priest.

He will team with Preist to take on Rey & Dominik Mysterio at WWE SummerSlam. Fightful will have coverage of WWE SummerSlam beginning at 7 p.m. ET with the Kick-Off show on July 30.
