The tournament begins.
The NJPW World TV Title tournament got underway on October 14 at NJPW Battle Autumn. In the co-main event, David Finlay defeated Yoshinobu Kanemaru to advance. In the main event, Zack Sabre Jr. tapped out Alex Zayne.
ZSJ and Finlay will meet in the second round of the tournament on October 27.

All tournament matches will be contested under a 15-minute time limit. If a match goes the 15-minute distance, decisions will be made via a coin toss. The first-ever NJPW World TV Champion will be crowned at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17.
The tournament will continue on October 15 with YOSHI-HASHI vs Jeff Cobb and Aaron Henare vs EVIL.
