Flip Gordon Wants To Wrestle Jay Lethal At Wrestle Kingdom

Fip Gordon wants another match against Jay Lethal, but this time at New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom show.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Gordon talked about his goals and ambitions while in Ring of Honor. Gordon, who is wrestling in a triple threat match for the ROH Television title on September 27 at “Death Before Dishonor” against Shane Taylor and Tracy Williams, said he first wants to win the title. Gordon would go on to later admit that he would also like to wrestle Jay Lethal at Wrestle Kingdom.

“My goal is to wrestle Jay Lethal at the Tokyo Dome. I’ve only wrestled him when he was the champ, but I would love for us to wrestle with him gunning for me after I win the Television title," Gordon said.

Although neither Gordon nor Lethal are officially on New Japan's roster, ROH does have a working relationship with the Japanese company and there have been some years, like in 2016 and 2017, when the ROH World Title was defended at Wrestle Kingdom. The two wrestlers competed against each other for the ROH World Title at the "All In" show back in September 2018 with Lethal retaining the title.

While his focus is currently on winning the Television title, Gordon has not abandoned his dreams of winning the ROH World Title.

"I see myself being Ring of Honor world champion someday. That’s something I have to accomplish. Once I set a goal, I go for it until I accomplish it," Gordon said.
