Shane McMahon was the mastermind behind the 'Ho Train' for The Godfather.
Charles Wright had plenty of gimmicks in WWE. Whether it was as the voodoo priest Papa Shango, MMA enthusiast KAMA, or lovable pimp The Godfather, Wright impacted multiple generations of wrestling fans. However, it is safe to say that Godfather was Wright's most successful gimmick.
As part of that gimmick, Godfather had his "Ho Train" and that was not just the name for his cavalcade of escorts, it was also the name of one of his signature moves. During the most recent AMA episode of his Poddin' Ain't Easy podcast, Godfather recounted the moment when Shane McMahon came up with the idea to put a little spice on one of Wright's favorite maneuvers throughout his career.
Actually, Shane McMahon came up with Ho Train. We were in the ring one day, messing around, and Shane's in the ring with me and whoever else. Shane's like, 'You know when you Splash --' I always splashed people in the corner. That always looked cool to me. So he goes, you know when you do that splash, before you do it, I want you to -- Do you remember Soul Train? We're going to call it the Ho Train.' I remember him saying, 'Don't leave them hanging too long get a good wind up, and then come in and Splash him. We'll call it the Ho Train.'"
Wright was then asked if he had any fun stories he could share about Shane McMahon and while he didn't want to say too much, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion did say that Shane McMahon was the designated driver and a car with Godfather and Undertaker on many occasions.
"Me and 'Taker would go out every night to strip clubs, and Vince didn't want us getting no DUIs. So Shane used to drive me and 'Taker all the time [from] TV and stuff. So, I mean, most of our stories are, you know, I don't think Shane was even 21 yet, and he was hanging with me and Mark for a while. So, Dude, I got a lot of cool things with him, but I can't say 'em. I mean everything. I'm The Godfather. Don't forget. He was hanging with me and 'Taker and strippers and Jack Daniels. Come on, man. He had a lot of good times. Kevin Nash was asked a question one time about Shane, and he said, 'The coolest rich motherfucker I know,' and that describes him pretty good."
A ringing endorsement for Shane McMahon from The Godfather.
When asked if Shane McMahon would ever pop up again on wrestling television, Godfather questioned why he would need to. While nothing is set in stone for his return to wrestling TV in any way, McMahon has been photoed with Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson of AEW at the airport recently. Learn more about that here.
