Gran Hamada has passed away at the age of 74.

Hamada founded Universal Lucha Libre and wrestled for New Japan Pro-Wrestling, All Japan Pro Wrestling, Michinoku Pro, and more. He held the WWF Light Heavyweight Title in the 1980s.
He held multiple titles in the UWA, including the UWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Championship, UWA World Light Heavyweight Championship, and UWA World Middleweight Championship.
Hamada wrestled a handful of matches in ECW, including a memorable showcase match where he teamed with Masato Yakushiji & The Great Sasuke against Dick Togo, TAKA Michinoku & Terry Boy at ECW Barely Legal 1997.
He last wrestled in 2018.
