After winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam, Gunther went on to successfully defend the title against Randy Orton before losing to Cody Rhodes in the WWE Crown Jewel Championship match.
Gunther had close encounters with Damian Priest before besting Jey Uso at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.
"I don't think the last few months were ideal for me," Gunther told Lewis Browning of Daily Mail. "I lost to Cody, and then everything that, that feud with Priest, it didn't allow me to show the best side of me, if that makes sense. But I think now I'm back to my old self, I feel my mojo again."
Gunther will now go on to face Jey once against at WrestleMania 41.
Jey earned the right to face Gunther by winning the men's Royal Rumble, allowing him the opportunity to challenge for any WWE championship at WrestleMania 41.
