Hiroshi Tanahashi will compete at ROH Supercard of Honor 2023.
On the March 29 episode of AEW Dynamite, Daniel Garcia headlined the show, as he faced Adam Cole in the latter's first match since AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022. Cole emerged victorious, but it wasn't lone before AEW confirmed that the Forbidden Door would swing open once again. According to fans in attendance, after AEW Dynamite went off the air, Garcia challenged NJPW star Hiroshi Tanahashi to a match at ROH Supercard of Honor on March 31. Tony Khan then came out and made the match official.
Khan subsequently confirmed the match in a tweet.

Tanahashi teased that he'd be doing something with ROH in a tweet on March 29, as he posted a picture in which he was at an airport, and he used AEW and ROH as hashtags.
Tanahashi made his AEW debut on the road to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022. He had a staredown with CM Punk and later teamed up with Jon Moxley to defeat Chris Jericho and Lance Archer on the June 22 episode of AEW Dynamite. He then lost to Jon Moxley in a match to crown the AEW Interim World Champion at Forbidden Door.
As previously announced, Tanahashi will face Mike Bailey at IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United on March 30.
