Impact Wrestling was set to debut a brand new X-Divison title until someone brought up how..familiar it looked.
Someone from Reddit posted a picture of a X-Divison title that was planned to be unveiled at one of Impact's recent pay-per-views. The original poster explained in the comments:
At one of the PPV's, they were going to debut new belts. This one ab ove would be the new X-Division championship. There was also a new Women's belt.
I can confirm both belts were backstage at the PPV. I believe it was Slammiversary? There was debate on whether to use them or not. I advised them not to due to the possible legal issues of the belt above being a direct rip off of the Copyrighted WWE/NXT Championship belt design.
They decided to not use these belts and had the old Global Force Belts modified which debuted a few weeks later.
The above belt were made by a company in Pakistan of lower end materials and apparently offered to the company for sale by someone in Tennessee. I was told at the time, it was another beltmaker who possibly purchased the plates from Pakistan, did the leather himself and sold it to Impact/GFW as "his" own work.
The Pakistani company who made the plates finally posted pictures of it, thus I could give more details than my earlier post.
Ironically, now that Jeff Jarrett has taken an indefinite leave of absence from Impact and is seemingly gone from the promotion, the Global Force Wrestling name will also now have to be removed from all of the modified titles going forward.
