IMPACT Wrestling Merges Their IMPACT World And IMPACT Grand Championships; Title Match Made For 'Slammiversary XVI'

IMPACT Wrestling merges two titles.

Professional wrestling's resident belt collector Austin Aries has lost two of title belts so-to-speak but will be receiving a new belt to represent IMPACT Wrestling with. Aries made his return to IMPACT TV in February of this year and on his first night back he defeated Eli Drake to become the new IMPACT World Champion. On the following week's show Aries bested Matt Sydal to capture the IMPACT Grand Championship which officially made Aries a grand slam champion in the company.

Austin Aries has held onto both championships since capturing them and along with those titles Aries is also the holder of the 'DEFY Wrestling' and 'WSW Heavyweight' Championships. "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" will be trading in two of his belts for one belt as IMPACT Wrestling announced over their official Twitter page that they will be merging the IMPACT World and IMPACT Grand Titles and will be rewarding Austin Aries with the IMPACT Undisputed World Championship.

Shortly after the announcement regarding the merging of the championships were made at the IMPACT presser earlier today, the main event of 'Slammiversary XVI' was announced. On July 22nd at the 'Rebel Complex' in Toronto, Ontario, Canada Austin Aries will be defending the Undisputed IMPACT World Championship against Moose.
