Jake Atlas now gets to do things his way.
WWE released Atlas on August 6 as part of 13 releases made by the company.
Atlas signed with WWE in October 2019, but made an appearance on Undercover Boss alongside Stephanie McMahon in 2018.
He made his NXT debut at a live event in January 2020 and made his television debut on the April 1 episode of NXT, losing to Dexter Lumis. He was part of the NXT Cruiserweight Title tournament in 2020 and had been regularly featured on NXT and 205 Live ever since.
Taking to social media, Atlas posted the following statement:
For 5 years, I worked hard to play the game the way I thought they would have wanted me to. If in that time I was able to accomplish all that I have with a limited understanding of who & what ‘Jake Atlas’ is, imagine what I’m capable of doing now that I get to do it MY way.

Atlas last wrestled on NXT on June 29, teaming with Mercedes Martinez in a loss to Tian Sha (Boa & Xia Li). His last WWE television match took place on the July 23 episode of 205 Live when he defeated Ari Sterling.
