James Ellsworth says the crowd reaction at Money in the Bank meant a lot.
James Ellsworth returned to WWE to assist Carmella in retaining her Smackdown Women's Championship at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. He had been gone from the company since November when he was released.
In an interview with Ringside News, Ellsworth said he knew he'd be back but was surprised by the crowd reaction.
“It was one of those things where WWE and I parted ways the first time I knew I’d be back. I didn't think it’d be that quick. After hearing the crowd, I was like wow, I guess they missed me. Trust me, it’s a big blessing when people miss you and miss you entertaining them. I’ll never forget that moment in Chicago. I gotta thank the Chicago fans for that. I mean, they could have booed me out of the building, they could not have cared, but they cared. That meant a lot to me," said Ellsworth.
During his first run with WWE, Ellsworth competed against AJ Styles for the WWE Championship, was in a rare intergender match against Becky Lynch, and appeared at WrestleMania 33. In the interview, he said being at WrestleMania 33 was unbelievable.
