JD Griffey teases that Keith Lee is coming for revenge.
Lee has been at odds with his former tag team partner Swerve Strickland in recent months. They tried to get back on the same page at ROH Final Battle, where they faced Griffey and Shane Taylor. Though Strickland walked out on Lee during the match, Lee still emerged victorious. On the December 21 episode of AEW Dynamite, Strickland debuted his Mogul Affiliates group, which includes Parker Boudreaux, Rick Ross, and a mystery man who hasn't officially been named yet.
Speaking on Knockouts and 3 Counts, Griffey offered an update on Lee by noting that Keith hasn't been back at the gym to work on his striking yet. However, he vowed that Strickland and Mogul Affiliates will get their comeuppance, as Lee won't let their actions slide. He then brought up the group's brutal attack and referred to the mystery member as "Tat-atatouille".
“He hasn’t been at the gym striking yet. I know he’s back to lifting a little bit, but I haven’t seen him back at the gym striking yet, or he hasn’t been on the mats grappling yet. But yeah listen, Swerve’s got it coming. You’ve seen Keith, he’s not gonna let that slide, especially when he’s given you ample chances to take the high road. Shane’s been on the bad end of that, I’ve been on the bad of that. He’s the big bro for a reason. But it comes to a point to where this wasn’t about competition anymore with what Swerve did and Parker and they still haven’t identified this other guy. I call him Tat-a-tooie. But it takes it to another level. That’s not about competition. You wanna go out and say you’re one of the best wrestlers in the country, Swerve, I’m with that. Parker, you wanna feel like you’re one of the most underrated performers, I’m with that. Rick Ross, you wanna think you’re the biggest boss, you’re all of these things. All of these guys who say these things about themselves in that equation, it’s all true. But you start trying to harm people physically… there’s competition, and then there’s busting a cinder block on somebody’s ribs. There’s levels to this shit," Griffey said.
Griffey went on to make it clear that he wants to fight Mogul Affiliates, but he's in a "holding pattern", as he's waiting to see what Lee and Taylor want to do. He then gave Strickland credit for being a very good wrestler, but he warned that Lee will return and get his revenge before Swerve can become a great competitor. Griffey also noted that, while he watches Strickland's matches, he's impressed by his skills, but he wonders why Swerve has to behave the way he does.
"Swerve is all of those things, right. He’s having these great matchups with AR Fox and things of that nature. That’s the thing with AR Fox and Swerve. When you watch Swerve perform, you’re like, ‘Damn, he’s really good. Why is he an asshole? Damn.’ But it’s like damn, you’re good wrestler, but when Keith yet back, you ain’t gonna live to become a great one. How unfortunate. I said all that to say, stay tuned. You never know. I’m ready to get busy. I’m ready to line it up and run it," Griffey said.
