Jeff Hardy says several '80s wrestling legends inspired him to paint his face.
In the 1980s, wrestlers with painted faces were very common. In fact, several of the top acts in WWE and WCW had unique face paint styles. In the 2000s, Jeff Hardy would begin painting his face and he says he owes it all to the inspiration of legends like the Ultimate Warrior, Hawk and Animal, the Road Warriors, but most of all, he continues to credit a specific moment in his life where he saw Sting wrestle in North Carolina.
Jeff Hardy reflected on this moment once again during a recent interview with MuscleManMalcolm.
"Sting and the Ultimate Warrior. The Road Warriors, as well. I went to a wrestling match when I was 12 years old and saw Sting come out in Fayetteville, North Carolina, touched his shoulder. I didn't know why he painted his face, but I loved it, and that's what created me today."
Jeff Hardy shared the ring with Sting on a number of occasions, including, unfortunately, one of his lowest moments at TNA Victory Road 2011.
Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy are with TNA currently and don't want to put a timeframe on when they will retire.
