Jerry Lawler provides an update on his status with WWE and his health.
In May, PWInsider reported that WWE was not renewing Jerry Lawler's broadcasting contract. Lawler, who had worked for the company for years as one of the voices of the Attitude Era, said that his career with the company had probably ended.
Speaking on Going Ringside (via News4JAX), Jerry Lawler was asked to comment on how he was doing after he had a stroke in 2023.
“I’m sort of hobbling around right now, I just had a knee replacement on my right knee. It’s doing good, but it’s a little bit of hobbling here and there," Lawler said.
When it was noted that he seemed to be doing well, Lawler noted that it might seem like that, but it was a little tough at home, as he was living by himself. That being said, he noted that it seemed to get better.
"Well, I seem to be doing pretty well. People just see me like this, but at home, I live by myself. It’s a little tough there right now. But it’s seemed to get better," Lawler said.
When asked about his WWE contract ending, Lawler confirmed that his commentating contract ended. However, he said that he was still under a Legends Deal with the company.
"The commentating contract [ended]. I had two strokes about seven months ago, and so they started…that’s not good for commentary. But I’m still under contract with them," Lawler said.
Lawler noted that he’s not watching a lot of wrestling right now. He also said that he was starting to travel more and make more appearances following his knee replacement.
Jim Ross has said that he doesn't think that he and Jerry Lawler have called their last match together. Check out his comments here.
