Jim Ross is taking things one day at a time.
Ross has been with AEW since 2019, and he has been a featured member of the broadcast team throughout his time with the company. In recent months, he has mostly been shifted to AEW Rampage and some pay-per-view matches. Ross called the action for the main event of the premiere of AEW Collision, but he suffered ahead of the show, and he has been sidelined ever since, as he has been taking time to heal.
Speaking on Grilling JR, the WWE Hall of Famer provided an update on his health and noted that he didn't have a date for his return. He made it clear that he will be back, and he intends to keep working. Ross stated that he doesn't have a lot of time left on his AEW contract, but he is not worried about it. Instead, he made it clear that he's taking things one day at a time.
"I will be back. I will continue working. My contract with AEW is still in place. I don’t have a lot of time left on it, but I’ve got enough. I’m not concerned about that. Either I’m retained, or I’m not. I’m just gonna take it a day at a time and see how it works out. But I enjoy working for AEW. It’s fun to be part of a startup. I said that when I was hired. It’s great to see all these young guys start to come into their own, and I’d love to be there for the rest of the journey to help guide them along the way, almost in a talent relations type situation. I enjoy helping these kids," Ross said.
In May 2022, Ross stated that he signed a contract extension with AEW, and the deal was for "a year and a half." More information is available here.
