Jim Ross will be absent from AEW Dynamite for the next month.
On October 23, AEW announcer Jim Ross confirmed that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer after undergoing a CT scan. Ross has previously been diagnosed with skin cancer in 2016 and underwent surgery in 2018.
A week later, JR shared that he would be undergoing 22 radiation treatments but didn't expect to miss any work. He did, however, say that he was unsure of the treatment schedule and would not compromise the integrity of AEW's programming if he felt he couldn't perform up to his standards.
Ross signed off on the November 24 episode of Dynamite by saying "We'll see you in the very near future."
Taking to Twitter Ross says that he is starting his radiation on Monday and is hoping to return to the commentary booth on the December 29 New Year's Smash episode of Dynamite.
Due to my skin cancer care totaling 22 radiation treatments starting Monday, I will hopefully return to the announce desk on December 29 in Jacksonville.

@TonyKhan supports me on this strategy which has been a blessing.
My thanks for all your support. ----
AEW President Tony Khan replied to JR, writing the following:
"JR, everyone here at AEW wishes you the best. I think it’s a great gameplan you’ve got, we look forward to your return to commentary, hopefully in your new hometown Jacksonville FL at Daily's Place at New Year’s Smash at the end of December! We want you to kick the cancer’s ass, JR!"
On November 24, JR also posted about two additional spots on his back that the doctors discovered that had to be removed.
