Jim Ross On Shelton Benjamin Potentially Winning A World Title: He's Physically Qualified, Maybe His Time Is Coming

Jim Ross speaks highly of Shelton Benjamin.

Benjamin made his AEW debut on the October 2nd episode of AEW Dynamite. Since then, he has consistently delivered buzzworthy performances on AEW television. He beat Lio Rush and Sammy Guevara before he lost to Swerve Strickland at AEW Fright Night Dynamite. Benjamin has been featured in a prominent position alongside MVP, and they were joined by Bobby Lashley at AEW Fright Night Dynamite.

Speaking on Grilling JR, WWE Hall of Famer and AEW broadcaster Jim Ross was asked whether he could see Benjamin becoming a world champion in AEW.

“Well, possibly. Possibly. He’s physically qualified. Just a matter of how the stories are written and so forth. I’m a big Swerve Strickland fan as well. Those two guys worked really hard [at Fright Night Dynamite], and are reliable talents. They bring something special, they bring a uniqueness to the presentation. But Shelton, maybe his time is coming. That’s all I can say about that. I don’t have any inside information, but I think Shelton could fulfill any role inside the squared circle that we wanted, and he’s a quality human being. You know he’s gonna be there, and you know you’re gonna get great athletic effort. There’s very few people that I’ve ever been around that were as athletic as Shelton Benjamin in a wrestling ring," Ross said.
