Joe Hendry: How Cool Would It Be If John Cena Appeared In A TNA Ring? It Would Be So Good For Everyone

Joe Hendry is just trying to make cool stuff happen.

TNA star Joe Hendry has often expressed his interest in facing John Cena. In recent months, Hendry was a featured part of the crossover between TNA and NXT, and he challenged for the NXT Championship at NXT No Mercy. Hendry recently teased inviting Cena to TNA if he wins the TNA World Championship; he will challenge Nic Nemeth for the title at TNA Bound For Glory. Meanwhile, Cena will go on his retirement tour in 2026.

In an interview with Steven Muelhausen for The Takedown on SI, Joe Hendry was asked to comment on potentially facing John Cena.

“John was the first professional wrestler that I ever spoke to. In 2013, I had a tryout and I thanked him in person for that interaction because it was a big part in inspiring me to actually go on to do this. So for me, personally, it will be a really full-circle moment, and that is the dream match that I’m going for. Also, I think it would be something that the fans would love. I think, also just the timing of it. If you think about it, what were the odds of me getting with Kurt Angle when I was a trainee, starting first day, in 2013, and wrestling him in 2016? I threw it out there into the universe and made it happen. So why wouldn’t I do the same again and try to do the same thing again? I can’t let John Cena retire without me trying to make that happen. If he’s doing a run of matches, I owe it to myself, I owe it to my fan base, and I owe it to what I think is best for the professional wrestling business. I just think that that will be so good for everybody, and it’s the dream match for me. I think it’s very difficult to argue against John Cena as the greatest of all time. This being his last year, how cool would it be if John Cena crossed over and appeared in a TNA wrestling ring or challenged for a TNA World Championship? We’re in an era where absolutely anything can happen. TNA and NXT have an active working relationship, so it’s not impossible. Anything is possible when you believe. All I need to do is know that I gave it my best shot, and that’s what I’m doing. So again, I’m just trying my best here to make some really cool stuff happen. I’m throwing it out there. If it happens, it happens. I just need to trust my gut, and like my gut told me that I was gonna wrestle Kurt Angle, my gut is telling me that I have to give this everything that I’ve got," Hendry said.

During the interview, Hendry commented on Eminem possibly showing up at TNA Bound For Glory. Check out his comments here.
