John Cena Officially Playing 'Peacemaker' In 'The Suicide Squad'; Release Date Announced

John Cena's role in the 2021 film “The Suicide Squad” has officially been revealed.

During the DC Fandome virtual convention, John Cena was officially announced as playing “Peacemaker” in the upcoming film. During a behind-the-scenes trailer that was played, John Cena described the character as a “douchey Captain America.”

Surely, with his polarizing reactions throughout his WWE career, there is a contingency of fans who will say that John Cena has been playing a douchey Captain America for the majority of his WWE career.

On Twitter, John Cena made a brief statement about how much heart the entire cast has put into making the movie. 

“It's a tremendous honor, this has been an opportunity that's just words can't describe it not only to become part of the DC Universe, but to work with such a versatile and talented cast on such a globally known property, and especially with one of the better storytellers I've ever been able to be associated with in James Gunn, the whole process has been amazing. I know here at the DC Fandome, we're starting the snowball rolling to get the fans across the world excited for suicide squad. Rest assured that all of us that were involved in making the movie are extremely proud and extremely excited. And what we have and we really think we're going to surprise a lot of folks who want to see Suicide Squad.”

John Cena will make his big-screen debut in the DC Universe next summer. According to the director of the film, James Gunn, “The Suicide Squad” will be released on August 6, 2021.
