Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa Non-Sanctioned Match Set For Takeover With Big Stipulation

The year long saga of DIY's breakup will finally reach a climax during WrestleMania weekend in New Orleans.

On the March 28 episode of WWE NXT, commissioner William Regal was seen in a segment outside of Full Sail University where Tommaso Ciampa complained about the fact that his former tag team partner Johnny Gargano attacked him from the crowd after his promo last week. Gargano is supposed to be banished from NXT, as he lost a career-threatening NXT Championship match to Andrade 'Cien' Almas at NXT Takeover: Philadelphia.

Regal told Ciampa that if he wanted Gargano gone, he'd have to get the job done himself, and subsequently booked a non-sanctioned match between the two for NXT Takeover: New Orleans on April 7. The match was set under the condition that if Gargano emerges victorious, he'd be given his job back in NXT, and if he lost he'd be banished forever.

Gargano and Ciampa teamed as the duo DIY for nearly two years, until Ciampa turned on Gargano in May of last year. Since then, Ciampa has been sidelined with a torn ACL. While teaming, DIY would become NXT Tag Team Champions.
