Jonathan Coachman Claims ESPN Coverage Was "Big Part Of The Reason" For WWE Television Deals

Jonathan Coachman says while at ESPN he was helping facilitate billion dollar deals for WWE.

WWE officially announced their television rights deals with Fox and NBC Universal in June and both are reportedly worth over 1 billion dollars each. In an interview with Busted Open Radio, Jonathan Coachman spoke about how he pushed to get WWE content on ESPN's Sportscenter and how that helped get WWE those television deals.

"We just got given credit by the President of (WWE) to wall street for helping facilitate this Fox deal.  So they took our content that we did every single week on Sportscenter...they took it to Fox," said Coachman. "I'm not saying it's the entire reason but it's a big part of the reason that this billion dollar deal was done," he continued.

Coachman also spoke about how sports fans were turned off by WWE content on Sportscenter but eventually it became popular stuff for ESPN. He was also excited to work with Fox and views the relationship as a partnership. He said he believes WWE can do some great things for the fans with this new deal.
