Karl Anderson believes that nothing compares to WrestleMania.
Fresh off the heels of Wrestle Kingdom 19 and Wrestle Dynasty, there has been chatter in the wrestling community about the prestige of big events in wrestling and if anything even comes close to WrestleMania. While fans have differing opinions on the matter, Karl Anderson believes that nothing compares to WrestleMania.
On the latest episode of Talk N' Shop, Anderson added to that claim by also saying that Wrestle Kingdom is the biggest thing you'll get that's even close to WrestleMania, especially in Japan.
"Is anything comparable to WrestleMania? I have to say no. Nothing compares to WrestleMania. Now, does the Tokyo Dome, does Wrestle Kingdom in Japan, is that the biggest thing you’re gonna see [that’s] comparable to WrestleMania? Yeah. Especially in Japan.
Anderson continued on and explained his reasoning behind thinking that WrestleMania is the biggest event of the year.
“Each year around Christmas, I start getting that same feeling of I have to get on my flight on January the first. Because I would usually fly out January 1. I’d land in Japan January 2,
January 3 we do the big Wrestle Kingdom press conference, which always felt very big, especially before I came to WWE, it was massive. Now that I’ve done WWE, everything else is still big, don’t get me wrong, I’m just saying, there’s nothing like WrestleMania, not even comparable. But there’s nothing like walking out at the Tokyo Dome and feeling that aura and being able to walk down that big aisle."
Anderson last wrestled on September 24, 2024, competing alongside Luke Gallows in a tag bout against Hank Walker & Tank Ledger.
Elsewhere in the interview, Anderson said there were rumblings about him winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in 2013. Learn more by clicking here.
