Kazuchika Okada: Maybe We Should Make The NEVER Six-Man Titles The IWGP Six-Man Titles

Kazuchika Okada wouldn't mind rebranding the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Titles.

Okada is one-third of the reigning NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions alongside Tomohiro Ishii & Hiroshi Tanahashi. The titles were introduced in 2015 and first won in 2016 by The Briscoes (Mark Briscoe & Jay Briscoe) and Toru Yano. The NEVER acronym represents "New Blood", "Evolution", "Valiantly", "Eternal", and "Radical" and was a series of events promoted by NJPW featuring young talent.

As time has passed, the NEVER acronym has lost some meaning in who has held belts with the NEVER branding, and Okada is ready to upgrade them.

"Of course I understand the history of NEVER, but I think it would be better to make it IWGP.... If so many members are involved, I think it would be interesting. I want the three of us to continue to fight these battles, and I want to bring it to the point where people say, 'Maybe we should make this the IWGP,'" Okada told Tokyo Sports (via DeepL translator).

Okada, Ishii, & Tanahashi are set to defend the titles against Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, & Shota Umino at NJPW Dominion.
