Keith Lee is no longer the North American Champion.
Two weeks after making history as the first dual NXT and North American Champion at the Great American Bash, Lee opened the show by announcing that he is vacating the title in order to focus his efforts on defending the NXT Championship.
As a result, NXT General Manager William Regal announced that the new champion will be crowned in a ladder match at the just-announced NXT TakeOver 30. The participants will be decided with a series of triple threat matches where the winners advance to the ladder match at TakeOver.

Lee held the North American Champion since January when he defeated Roderick Strong to win the title. After beating Adam Cole to win the NXT Championship at the Great American Bash in early July, Lee made just one defense of both belts, which was against Dominik Dijakovic on July 15.
