After Riho won the AEW Women's Championship, she was attacked by Nyla Rose in a post-match beatdown. Kenny Omega made the save for Riho, running off Rose before she could inflict further damage. There was no on-screen follow-up to Omega saving Riho.
Omega, who helps oversee the AEW women's division alongside Brandi Rhodes, revealed on Wrestlers Ordering Room Service that he eventually wants to team with Riho in AEW.
"I'm really having a chance now to try new things and one of the things I wanted to show was, my vision for what women's wrestling can or should be to everyone in America that hasn't seen these types of matches. It's really cool that, slowly but surely, we're getting into this groove of displaying the kind of talent that hasn't been available to everyone. In my downtime, I'm trying to do this mixed match thing with Riho. We did it before, it's just a shame we can't do it in America, yet. We're hoping, eventually, in an AEW ring. Way down the line," he said.
Matt Jackson followed up, saying that because they have the power, they should just book it for...and then the segment ended.
Omega and Riho teamed at DDT Ultimate Party 2019 in November and NTW/OWE Kenny Omega In Taiwan in September. In a separate interview earlier this year, Omega teased big things happening in the women's division in 2020 while addressing current criticisms fans have of the division.
