Kota Ibushi Defeats Tetsuya Naito To Win IWGP Intercontinental Title At G1 Supercard

Kota Ibushi captures his first IWGP IC Title.

The Golden Star outlasted Tetsuya Naito at ROH-NJPW G1 Supercard, defeating the Los Ingobernables de Japon leader to win the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. Ibushi scored the victory with the Last Ride followed by the Kamigoye. The finish from Fightful's live coverage:

Back in the ring Naito hits a tornado DDT and a frankensteiner into a side suplex for a two count before comes back with a clothesline. Kota hits another dead lift German into a bridging dragon suplex for a near fall before Naito hits a reverse huricanrrana and Gloria for a near fall. They then go back and forth until Kota hits a Kinshasa and finishes with a Last Ride Powerbomb into the Kamigoye for the pin and the win.

The victory marks Ibushi's first time holding the IWGP IC Title. He is a former NEVER Openweight Champion and three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. Naito held the title for 93 days, winning it from Chris Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 13 in January.
