Kota Ibushi comments on a potential Golden Lovers reunion.
Ibushi and Kenny Omega formed the Golden Lovers tag team in 2009, and they went on to win the KO-D Tag Team Championship twice in DDT Pro-Wrestling. The duo also won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. Omega left DDT in 2014, and the two stars later reunited in 2018. They have not teamed up since Omega left NJPW and joined AEW in 2019. Ibushi recently became a free agent, as his NJPW contract expired at the end of January. He has made it clear that he wants to wrestle for AEW, and fans continue to buzz about a potential Golden Lovers reunion.
Speaking with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, Ibushi commented on the Golden Lovers and noted that they hope to become a legendary tag team.
“We believe that Golden Lovers is the best story in the world. That's why, even when we're both 50 and 60, we definitely want to become a legend tag team all over the world. It is also one of my hopes and dreams," Ibushi said.
