Kris Statlander Reveals Origin Of Alien Gimmick, Says She's Never Seen Star Wars Or Star Trek

To some who may think Kris Statlander’s character comes as a result of her loving Star Wars or Star Trek, they might be surprised to hear that it actually doesn’t come from either of those franchises.

Recently appearing on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Statlander talked about the origin of her alien gimmick and when asked by Tony Schiavone if she actually watched anything from Star Wars or Star Trek. Statlander admitted that she hasn’t seen any of those, that she is more of a fan of science and recalled her time growing up taking as many science classes as possible.

“I’ve never seen either. I’m actually just a big science nerd. I took every single science class in school, every single thing: biology, genealogy, marine biology. I even took summer school for fun just to take marine biology. In my high school, we had a planetarium, so we would take  kindergarten field trips to the high school and watch it. For my birthday, I would get science kits,” Statlander said.

When she first started wrestling, Statlander said she didn’t really have much of a character to play off of, but when making the alien gimmick, she said it plays off how she felt a bit alienated in school.

“I was getting work, but it wasn’t like I had a character or anything like that. So I’m weirder than a lot of people realize. I never really fit in with a group of people. When I was in high school, no one really wanted to get to know you. In a way, you almost feel alienated, but no one wants to believe aliens are real until someone can show them. No one cares to look into it until facts are shown or research is done, so I kind of feel like it’s a play on how I’ve always been perceived. That’s kind of like how aliens are, so I decided to play on that,” Statlander said.

Unfortunately for Statlander, she won’t be wrestling any time soon as she recently suffered a torn ACL on Dynamite and will be on the shelf for months.
