Kurt Angle Names His Dream 'Team Angle' Survivor Series Squad

Kurt Angle would have loved to have an all-time Team Angle Survivor Series squad.

Kurt Angle had a brief time in 2003 where he was the leader of Team Angle, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin. The faction only lasted eight months mostly because Kurt Angle suffered a broken neck which led to the split happening quicker.

Kurt Angle would later say that he wanted to manage Jason Jordan and Chad Gable, American Alpha, but instead, WWE made Jason Jordan Kurt Angle's illegitimate son. Chad Gable would go on to have a singles career and is currently paired with Otis.

Speaking on a recent Q&A episode of his podcast, Kurt Angle would say that he was never asked to manage Chad Gable and Otis, but he did turn down managing Matt Riddle.

"I wouldn't mind doing it. Not only are they great amateur wrestlers. They're entertaining too, especially Otis, you know, I think I might have been able to be a part of that. But I think they started that after I left the company. So there wasn't a possibility of me coming back and managing them. The WWE did offer me to manage Matt Riddle and I didn't take it at the time because I had some other commitments but Otis and Chad Gable now, it would have been awesome managing them, we would have had a lot of fun doing those segments."

Kurt Angle would further say he's not sure why Vince McMahon made Jason Jordan his son, but he did say that he would have liked to have had a longer run with Chad Gable and Jason Jordan as Team Angle because he feels the original Team Angle never got a proper run.

"Yeah, I wanted to do that. I'm not sure why Vince did decide to do that. Instead, he made Jason Jordan, my son. Chad Gable had no relationship to me whatsoever, I would have probably done the opposite. But I also think that those guys would have been the new Team Angle, and it would have been a really good run. I'm not sure why Vince didn't want to do it. It's, it's actually very disappointing. Because, you know, the Team Angle didn't even get to the level that we could have. Team Angle only survived for like eight months. It wasn't a long period for that faction. So to reignite it with Chad Gable, and Otis or Jason Jordan would have been incredible. I think that we could have done that for a good three or four years and had a great run. "

Kurt Angle would further say that he would have liked to even include Otis and Shelton Benjamin in this pairing as they could have been a perfect Team Angle Survivor Series squad as all five of them.

"Especially Shelton was part of Team Angle. So I would love to have all of them as part of my faction, that would be incredible and we could have been a Survivor Series team."

This year's WWE Survivor Series will take place on Sunday, November 21. It is also the final WWE pay-per-view for this calendar year. You can check out the full pay-per-view schedule for 2022 here.
