Kurt Angle weighs in on the critically panned match between Sharmell and Jenna Morasca from TNA Victory Road 2009.
Survivor winner Jenna Morasca was briefly a member of the TNA Wrestling roster. Not only was she a member of the TNA Wrestling roster, but she was revealed to be the financial backer of the Main Event Mafia, a stable consisting of WWE Hall of Famers, Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash, Sting, and Booker T. Booker T's wife, Sharmell, a WWE Hall of Famer in her own right, was also a member of the faction, and bickered with Morasca long enough to lead to a match between them at TNA Victory Road 2009.
The pay-per-view match, which Jenna was fortunate enough to win, was not received well. The match received the "Worst Worked Match of the Year" award by Wrestling Observer Newsletter readers. Now, Kurt Angle is weighing in on the infamous bout.
Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, Angle squarely put the blame on those working backstage in TNA because, although Jenna claimed to be working with Awesome Kong in the storyline in order to get ready for the match, Angle believes that she should have been given more time to learn enough spots to work that one match, feeling the extra time would have led to a much better result.
"You know what? I'll tell you this. It wasn't Jenna's fault. She had no idea what she was doing. She would have should have never been in this position. If anything, they should have had her trained for a little bit, at least four to six weeks. Let her get ready for this. Let her learn the spots. All she had to do is learn that match. She didn't have to learn how to wrestle, but she could learn how to hit the ropes, learn how to bump, and learn just a few spots for the match. The match wasn't that long. So [TNA officials] could have done a lot better job with it if they would have opened up their eyes and stopped being jackasses," said Angle.
