Kurt Angle and AJ Styles wrestled one another numerous times in IMPACT Wrestling. The two former TNA World Heavyweight Champions also worked a match against each other in New Japan Pro Wrestling and for the first time since 2013, Kurt Angle and AJ Styles will share a ring as opponents.

Angle reflected on his decision to choose Baron Corbin to be his WrestleMania 35 opponent during an interview with WWE.com. Angle's wife Giovanna, tweeted out that the selection of Baron Corbin to be Angle's final opponent was underwhelming and like many of the fans in the arena when Angle made his decision, she agreed that John Cena should've been Kurt's last match in WWE.
