LA Knight Defeats Carmelo Hayes To Retain WWE United States Championship On WWE SmackDown

LA Knight remains the WWE United States Championship.

On the October 11th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, LA Knight put his United States Championship on the line vs Carmelo Hayes. Hayes earned his opportunity on last week's edition of SmackDown after 'defeating' AJ Styles, who could no longer continue due to injury.

Early on in the bout, Andrade El Idolo would make his way to ringside, resulting in causing a distraction for both competitors to take advantage of momentarily. Knight and Hayes would have a back and forth matchup, which included an athletic counter of the BFT from Carmelo that lead to a near fall for the challenger.

However, after attempting another smart counter to a back suplex, Knight would hit the BFT out of nowhere to get the win. After the match, Andrade would taunt Carmelo as the two remain 3 and 3 in their series.

This marks Knight's third title defense since capturing the championship from Logan Paul back at WWE SummerSlam in August.
