Lee Moriarty Goes The Distance With Wheeler Yuta On 7/4 ROH, Earns Future ROH Pure Title Shot

Lee Moriarty hung in there with the Ring of Honor Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta in a Proving Ground Match, and as a result, he earned himself a future shot at the gold.

It had been the better part of a year since Wheeler Yuta defended his Ring of Honor Pure Title due to injury, which kept him away from the ring for a number of months. Wheeler returned to Ring of Honor programming on July 4 to face Lee Moriarty in a Proving Ground Match. Per the Ring of Honor tradition stipulations, as long as Moriarty was able to last 10 minutes with the champion, a future ROH Pure Championship opportunity would be his for the taking.

It was a highly contested match on July 4, but it ended in a draw, as neither man could put the other away. Moriarty has a chance to earn his first Ring of Honor championship in the future. Though he didn't win the match, Moriarty celebrated with Shane Taylor and Anthony Ogogo, and he now has the opportunity to bring gold to Shane Taylor Promotions.

A date for this championship match has not yet been set.
