Bret Hart and Lex Luger were co-winners of the 1994 Royal Rumble with both men going over the top rope and their feet hitting the floor at the same time.
How did they pull it off?
"Bret tries to credit me and I credit Bret. It was Bret. The excellence of execution. All I had to do was catch him and go backwards over the top rope, which is not fun, I didn’t do a lot of backwards over the top rope kind of stuff, but I trusted Bret. He had to tuck my head and everything. Bret crossbodied me and took us out, then he spider-monkey’d me. He pulled me in, pulled my head in. They said Vince [McMahon] jumped out of his chair in the back. When we walked through it, how we were going to do it, Vince goes, ‘Try to hit the floor at the same time, we’ll touch it up after.’ They even did it in slow-mo, what a miracle. You couldn’t tell in slow motion who hit first. Bret pulled me in so tight and the way we hit the apron and to the floor, Bret got us both level and even to hit at the exact same time. We probably could have done it 1000 times after and wouldn’t have got it. Vince jumped out of his chair. ‘Oh my God! They nailed it!’" Luger told Chris Van Vliet on Insight.
Luger and Bret would both go on to challenge for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania X.
Luger failed to defeat Yokozuna, but Hart won the WWE Championship from Yoko in the main event.
Elsewhere during the interview, Luger said he was clean during his WWE run. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
