Lex Luger Was Surprised To See Sting's Children Involved In An Angle On AEW TV, Thought It Was Neat

Lex Luger comments on the build to Sting's final match at AEW Revolution.

Sting's career was largely defined by his time in WCW where he was the franchise of the promotion. During his time in WCW, he was very closely associated with Lex Luger. On-screen, they were friends and rivals at varying times in their careers. Behind the scenes, they were the best of friends and even business partners.

As Sting gears up for his final wrestling match ever, a tag team match where he and Darby Allin will defend the AEW World Tag Titles against Matthew and Nicholas Jackson, Lex Luger is now commenting on the build and the surprising use of Sting's sons in an angle.

"My initial feelings are, I was surprised because Sting's family, especially his boys, have never been involved really," Luger said on his February 2024 Lex Expressed podcast. "I know the boys have been to a couple of house shows here and there and got a couple of clips on camera, but I was surprised to see them ringside and actually be a part of the angle where they got in the ring. I was very surprised by that. I thought it was pretty neat that they were there. I thought that was really good.

"I wasn't shocked at the Young Bucks obviously came in the ring and did what they did," he continued. "I think they're just doing good business and setting the matchup the way it needs to be set up. The white suits and the blood, that was an old-school touch right there."

Luger also commented on the promo that Sting cut on February 19, 2024, where he revealed that his father had sadly passed away and that he would be giving everything he had in his final match, promising Nicholas and Matthew the fight of their lives.

"I knew Lee, his father, who I knew very well, was struggling a little bit but the passing of his dad, wow. The timing of that. He gave a very heartfelt interview about [how] this reminds you of mortality. I thought it was a great interview by Sting in that regard, an emotional one, and I think the match is getting set up the right way."

Sting is slated for his final appearance on TBS television as an official wrestler on the February 28 episode of AEW Dynamite. Learn more about that here.

Darby Allin has gone on the record as saying he will do whatever he needs to do to make sure that this final match is a very special one for Sting. Read his comments here.
