Leyla Hirsch Explains Why She Loves Intergender Wrestling

Leyla Hirsch is patiently waiting for her big opportunity in AEW.

After three years on the independent circuit, Hirsch made her debut for AEW in October 2020, with Tony Khan officially announcing her signing with the company in March of the following year. Not confined to AEW, Hirsch has had some high-profile matches outside the promotion, including an NWA World Women's Title bout against Kamille at NWA EmPowerrr.

Appearing on the latest episode of AEW Unrestricted, Hirsch discussed her match at EmPowerrr and how she would like to have longer and bigger profile matches like the one with Kamille in AEW.

"For me, it's just patience and getting the opportunity. When the opportunity comes, I know I can kill it. I would love to have that kind of match in AEW. It's just the time and patience. It'll come. When that moment does come, I'm going to kill it," Hirsch said.

Elsewhere during the interview, Leyla discussed her love for intergender wrestling and how it pushes her to her limit. Two of Hirsch's most recent matches for Beyond Uncharted Territory have been against Tracy Williams and Wheeler Yuta, respectively.

"I, honestly, love intergender wrestling. For me, personally, it's helped me and has shown me what I can do and the limit for me. I love wrestling girls, but to me, it makes me work when I wrestle the guys. I love hard-hitting, I love it. I might sound crazy for that, but I love that. I love intergender wrestling. I know people have their opinions about it. I think it's helped a lot of the women," she said.

Leyla is scheduled to compete on tonight's episode of AEW Rampage, teaming up with Red Velvet and Kris Statlander to take on Nyla Rose, Penelope Ford, and The Bunny.

Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Rampage beginning at 10 p.m. ET with a post-show review immediately following its conclusion.
