Linda McMahon's WWE past gets referenced on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update.
Linda McMahon is now Donald Trump's Secretary of Education. However, for many years, she was the CEO of WWE as the wife of Vince McMahon, the company's founder. In the late '90s and early 2000s, Linda became involved in several WWE storylines as the McMahon Family took a more prominent role on WWE television. One such storyline saw her attacked by Kane in 2003 to set up a match between Kane and Shane McMahon.
This 2003 angle was recently utilized on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update, as Colin Jost spoke about Linda McMahon's mandate from Donald Trump to oversee the dismantling of the Department of Education. Jost joked about the former WWE CEO, saying kids' test scores could go higher with education being returned to the states. " Maybe as high as 69," was the punchline, along with a still image of Kane hitting Linda with a Tombstone Piledriver.
Nice.
