Mark Henry says he intentional tried to give back to the next generation of wrestlers.
Today, Mark Henry was announced as a member of the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame class. In an interview with USA Today, Henry recalled how he felt when he was told he would be entering the Hall of Fame.
"It was a little while back...it was just an overwhelming feeling, you know? My face got hot. A couple of tears fell, and you felt like, instantly, all of the pain and torment that you put your body through, the sacrifices that you made. They were worth it. It paid it all off," said Henry.
After over twenty years in the wrestling business, Henry has put time in to encourage the wrestlers younger than him. WWE even recently appointed him as a talent scout and Henry said giving back to the locker room is what he hopes to be remembered for down the road.
I definitely hope they remember the strength element, but more than anything I would say remember the fact that I was not selfish. That I was able to share not only my time, but I taught the future. There’s a lot of guys in this business, you can go into that locker room right now and I guarantee you I had an influence on more than half, because I tried to. It was intentional. That is something that I hang my hat on," said Henry.
Also in the interview, Henry discusses his whole career from power lifting, to being recruited and molded by Vince McMahon, and his days as "Sexual Chocolate" during the Attitude Era.
