Mark Henry speaks on a music project in the works at AEW.
For several wrestlers in 2022, music is a very common side project. Lio Rush, Shane Strickland, AJ Francis, Austin Gunn, and more all enjoy the world of Hip Hop and pursue music making outside of the ring.
On the Rock side of the spectrum, Chris Jericho, Brody King, The Butcher, and more are in bands outside of the squared circle.
In AEW, Max Caster of The Acclaimed raps his way to the ring for every match he or Anthony Bowens is in
Now, Mark Henry, in a new interview with Danny Ocean, revealed that for Black History Month, AEW will be releasing a special "hip-hop compilation.”
“Yeah, and there's — AEW is gonna come out with, for Black History Month, there's a Hip Hop compilation that's being put together right now that I think the world is going to really, really love.
“I always like to see people in our industry cross-brand and reach out and do things that was not expected of them.”
Mikey Rukus, AEW's music producer, later responded to this article discussing further details on the project.
Per Rukus, he assembled producers, musicians, rappers/artists within the pro wrestling space to come together and tell the stories of AEW's black talent. Names included are Sonny Kiss, Lio Rush, Max Caster, Mega Ran, Righetous Reg, Will Washington, Josiah Williams, and more.
Josiah worked with NXT in the recent past and performs Shawn Spears' theme. Mega Ran can be heard on King Woods' theme today. Reg and Will can be heard every Saturday on Fightful's Grapsody podcast.

The music that is being turned in is amazing & I cannot wait for the world to hear! --
In the past, wrestling promotions have released several compilation albums of theme songs but in 2004, WWE allowed the superstars of that era to sing their own original music in an album called WWE Originals, featuring John Cena's "Basic Thuganomics" theme. Today, that album is available on Spotify.
Fightful will bring more updates regarding the release of this compilation as more updates are made public.
