Matt Camp Details Lack Of Chemistry With Megan Morant, Says Megan Didn't Want Help

Matt Camp comments on the end of WWE's The Bump.

In October 2019, WWE launched a new digital show called The Bump, which featured the hosts recapping the week in WWE and providing exclusive interviews. The show underwent many iterations and hosts with Kayla Braxton being the most notable full-time host.

Matt Camp hosted the show alongside Kayla, and he remained on the show after Kayla went on to other ventures within WWE.

The Bump has been on hiatus since March 2024 and it is unknown if or when it will return.

On his Wrestling Matt podcast, Matt Camp was asked if his lack of chemistry with Megan Morant was the reason why he was released.

"You're right about the lack of chemistry, 100%. I don't know if that played into it. I know that show doesn't exist, so who knows. That show hasn't been on in months. I don't know if it's coming back. It seems to be out of the way. The show was not the same without Kayla, 100%," he said.

Camp recounted the history of The Bump and his history in WWE, including Kayla moving to Los Angeles, working with Jackie Redmond on Raw Talk and Talking SmackDown, and working with a range of people from Bryon Saxton to Kevin Patrick to Scott Stanford.

Camp had good things to say about everyone he worked with and said that everyone worked to listen and get better. He specifically put over Jackie for her work ethic and willingness to improve.

He then circled back to Megan.

"No, Megan and I did not have chemistry. The fact that I just said her name for the first time on this show, ever, should tell you plenty. It didn't work. I tried to help her, she didn't want the help. Shit, I'll go further, Michael Cole was checking in with me on how she was doing, and I would have to tell him, 'Hmmm, she doesn't really want the help.' I'm not there anymore and she is. Call that for what you will. No, we did not have chemistry. I knew it. I tried to help. I wanted her to get better. Initially, she wanted to get better. 'Hey, you're going to be in town for this community event, why don't you come sit backstage and watch Raw Talk. We'll show you everything we do.' 'Hey, you're still here, why don't you come sit and stay around for The Bump this week.' 'That would be cool if we put you on the show. You can do this.' Those things happened. I talked to Cole. 'Hey, if she wants to keep coming around, I'd be happy to have her around. She can shadow. She can learn from the best in Jackie. We can show her the ropes. It's good to be around these things.' She was into it. That continued. I encouraged it. They made the call, Megan is the number two to Kayla on SmackDown. Jackie is moving. We're going to take Megan off the road, she'll be a Stamford person with me and Ryan. Now, she'll be with you on all three shows. Okay. I wasn't thrilled because I was losing Kayla, but I got it. We're going to make this work. Let's try hard. It didn't work. The trying stops. The conversations I have to try and improve things [motions in one ear and out there other]. No, we had no chemistry. That's what happened. You don't always get what you want. You try to make the best out of the situation. I can only help so much. Now, that show doesn't exist anymore," he said.

Matt said that when he was released by WWE, a lot of people reached out to him, including people he didn't work closely with.

"You know who never said a word to me? This needs to be said. I'm kind of tired of this shit. Megan never said a word to me. I got let go. That show went on the air on Wednesday. I get it, they don't acknowledge those people. Not a fucking text. Nothing. Nada. Remember that when you help people out. Remember that," he said.

Matt said he's willing to help others in the business or looking to get into the business of broadcasting, because it can always come back around.

He stated, "I don't really care because I don't work there anymore and I don't talk to her, and she clearly has no interest in talking to me even though she was given help. She can deny all this shit. I don't care. It's the truth. Enough people know that. People I care about know that answer. People she works with know that answer. I said it before I left. You want to connect those dots. I've been trying to do that since February. It's probably true."

Matt closed by saying that his experience at WWE was really good and he liked almost everyone he worked with. He noted that's life and you're not always going to get along with everyone, but he felt he needed to say these things and get it out there.
