Matt Cardona: My Dream Match Is Matt Cardona (With Steph De Lander) vs. John Cena At WrestleMania 40

Matt Cardona names his dream match.

Cardona, previously known as Zack Ryder, has a lengthy run with WWE; he signed a developmental deal with the company in 200-6 and eventually moved up to the main roster in 2007. During his time with the company, Cardona held the United States Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and the Raw Tag Team Championship. Cardona was released in a wave of cuts in April 2020, and he has since reinvented himself on the independent scene. During this successful run, Cardona has won the GCW World Championship, the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, and the IMPACT Digital Media Championship, among other accolades.

In a tweet on May 1, Cardona wrote that his dream match would be against John Cena at WrestleMania 40. He noted that he would have Steph De Lander in his corner for the bout.

When Cardona's popularity as Zack Ryder surged in 2011 during the Ryder Revolution, which stemmed from his "Z! True Long Island Story" YouTube show, he was briefly aligned with John Cena on WWE TV, but the friendship went sideways when Kane attacked Ryder and put him in a wheelchair, which the powerhouse later shoved off the stage. To make matters worse, Ryder also caught Cena kissing his on-screen love interest, Eve, on the February 14, 2012 episode of WWE Raw. Years later, Ryder faced Cena on the May 25, 2015 episode of WWE Raw.

Cardona previously commented on potentially returning to WWE. Check out his comments here.
