Matt Hardy has high praise for Christian Cage.
Throughout his run in AEW, Christian Cage has worked at a high level as a heel while feuding with the likes of Adam Copeland, Darby Allin, Jack Perry, and Swerve Strickland. Many fans have praised Cage during this time, with some even stating that he is doing the best work of his entire career.
On the latest edition of The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, Hardy himself was asked to give his take on Christian Cage as a heel.
“The first word is committed because Christian is one of the elites when it comes to being a heel in pro wrestling. He, more than almost anyone else I can think of, he is open to relinquishing his fear of being an asshole. He doesn’t care. He goes out, he’s happy to be the asshole, he plays the asshole through and through. He’s not an online person trying to score brownie points with fans. He doesn’t care what they think. He has a gig, he has a shtick, he has a bit that he is doing. He is Christian Cage and as a heel, that’s where he thrives. That’s where he’s at his absolute best and whenever he does it, he really does go out and he absolutely relinquishes all of his fear of being viewed as an asshole and that’s what it takes to make a great heel in this day and age.”
