Matt Hardy took to social media to share his thoughts ahead of the match, as he also shared the duo's promo about the bout. He wrote that it's time to make the kids who grew up idolizing them start saying their names with reverence. Matt stated that the disrespect will no longer be tolerated, as they are living legends and tag team GOATS.

In the promo, The Hardys were asked what they needed to change to find success in the new year.

"Ever since 2023 been, sobriety has changed me. It’s coming back to me in stages. It feels different out there in that AEW ring. 2012 was one of the best years of my wrestling career. I feel like 2024 is gonna be the best year of The Hardys’ career," Jeff Hardy said.

Matt then stated that to make 2024 the best year of their careers, they needed to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
