Matt Hardy provides an update on Stokely Hathaway.
FTW Champion HOOK has been feuding with Stokely Hathaway and The Firm in recent weeks. HOOK has defeated Matt Hardy, and he dominated Hathaway in a No Disqualification Match on the March 22 episode of AEW Dynamite. According to Hardy, Hathaway will be out for a few weeks following this defeat.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the veteran shared his thoughts on Hathaway's match with HOOK and noted that he had will be sidelined for a few weeks. Hardy stated that what happened to Stokely was a travesty and a tragedy before he stated that Ethan Page must avenge their friend by facing HOOK.
“Sometimes you just gotta let it play out. I got in that match with HOOK, and I didn’t want to disappoint them. I didn’t want to become injured and not be able to wrestle and earn The Firm money, so I had to tap out quick. I couldn’t risk getting injured, there’s so many injuries going around currently in wrestling as it is. Sure, that meant Stokely had to wrestle HOOK, and poor Stokely, he’s gonna be out five to six weeks at a minimum, they said. At minimum, he’s gonna be out five to six weeks. So now that my dear friend Stokely has been taken off the chess board, he’s has been deleted, so to say, considering he’s gone now, I think Ethan has to really avenge him. It was just a travesty and a tragedy, and we can’t let HOOK get away with what he did to Stokely," Hardy said.
Hardy then noted that he is drawing up the contract for a match between Page and HOOK. When asked to elaborate, Hardy teased that he has uncovered HOOK's real name, and he will have some special bonuses for Page in order to make the match even more special.
"I’m gonna make sure to get HOOK’s name on the line. I’ve got his real shoot name, and I’ve got Ethan Page’s name on there. I’m gonna throw a couple bonuses in there for Ethan, just to make it all the more special. It’s really going to be a monumental occasion when Ethan avenges Stokely," he said.
