Matt Hardy comments on the upcoming match between Bryan Danielson and Swerve Strickland at AEW All In.

On the most recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy detailed his feelings that it is time for Danielson to have one last run at the top in AEW.

"Swerve had a hell of a run, but it is time for the American Dragon; it is time for Bryan Danielson to win the AEW World Title. I think if you would ask Tony Khan who is his true right-hand man, who does he believe and trust in more than anyone else, who would he take advice from — it would be Bryan Danielson. He has been the heart and soul when it comes to AEW, and I think he is someone deserving of an AEW World Title run, and I think that happens. I think he is looking very much forward to stepping away, but it is not at All In. It’s not time yet. It’s gonna be a little bit later. I think we’re gonna get a significant and really nice run out of Bryan here as he really winds down his career, especially on this last portion of his career. It feels very similar to John Cena saying I’m retiring. I think John Cena is going to have a great run when he eventually retires, I think Bryan Danielson is going to have an amazing year, especially if he can stay healthy.”

When asked if he really thinks that Danielson will hold the title for a year, Matt Hardy explained that it might not be that long but he is sure that there will have a great run with the title.

“I don’t think it’s going to be a year. I think he’s going to have the title for a few months, maybe six months. I think he’s going to have a decent run with it. It could be shorter, I don’t know. I think he’s going to win the title. I think it’s important that he becomes a champion.”

Asked why he believes it's important for Danielson to win the AEW World Championship, Hardy not only cited Danielson as a great representative of the company but said that a run with Danielson on top may just be what AEW needs in order to go on a hot streak right now.

"I think he is a representative of AEW; I think he stands out. This is Bryan Danielson, he said, ‘I am the best fucking wrestler in the world.’ I love how he delivered it too, a lot of times I’m humble and won’t say it but everybody out there, they know it and I’m gonna say it too. With that being said, he doesn’t need to have a long title run, but I think there is equity and value. Even if they’re planning on doing a very short run with him, I think it might be testing the waters to see if you should extend it a little bit because I think they need a bump in business right now. They need something to catch fire and get hot so they can kind of heat up, and I think this Bryan Danielson thing might be something to catch fire.”

Danielson has also talked about wanting to be the face of AEW before he retires. Read his comments here.
