Mickie James is just thankful.
It's almost been two years since Mickie James returned to WWE after being away from the company for six-years. Mickie returned to challenge Asuka for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver: Toronto in a bout she was unsuccessful in. Not too long after the TakeOver match Mickie was moved up to the main roster and has been featured on both SmackDown Live and RAW as a mainstay in the women's division.
After having traveled the world and established herself in TNA as a three-time TNA Knockouts Champion and competing on the independent wrestling scene, James returned to WWE with a new mindset and outlook on things in her second run with the company.
“Its incredible." Mickie said of her second run in WWE while appearing on 'Virginia This Morning'. "Obviously I just came back for my second run and it was kind of a surprise for me, and especially coming back after having a son and he’s going on four-years old.” Mickie continued, “But to come back after that I think its… its definitely changed my perception and my goals I think--of why I'm doing a lot of the things that I’m doing and you know, when you’re young and you’re having fun and you’re traveling the world and you’re just spending money and doing whatever but now its like… college funds”.
Mickie is also a country music artist and other than wrestling, music is another passion that is deeply-rooted in the Virginia native. James went on to speak about knowing how blessed she is to be in the position that she is in and she also shared a few words of advice to those who need a push to get over the hump.
“I definitely recognize how blessed I am, because for every one of me there’s a thousand easy, and I don’t discredit myself in the sense of the amount of time I’ve been… November will be almost twenty years since I first stepped foot in a wrestling school.” Mickie continued, “Its amazing but it definitely took a lot of hard work and determination and it was a lot of… I got told ‘no’ so many times, before I finally got that ‘yes’ but it really made that one ‘yes’ mean so much. Persistence and hard work and you have to believe and believe in yourself and visualize that goal and you know, we all hope but sometimes I think fear gets in our way--fear will stop you in your tracks if you let it.”
Mickie James has been the recipient of a few Ronda Rousey beat-downs as of late due to her affiliation with Alexa Bliss. Ronda Rousey will be present on next week's RAW in Miami ahead of challenging Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women's Championship at SummerSlam.
