The Miz demands respect.
On the June 19 episode of WWE Raw, The Miz hosted an open challenge, and he was answered by the returning Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa had been sidelined for a number of months as he had hip surgery in October 2022. Prior to his absence, he had been aligned with The Miz on WWE TV. When he came back, he took the fight to the former WWE Champion and defeated him.
On the June 26 episode of WWE Raw, Ciampa noted that The Miz never called him during his time away. The Miz then viciously attacked him before their scheduled match.
Speaking on Raw Talk, The Miz was asked about his actions. He made it clear that he doesn't call anyone, as everyone calls him. He stated that he was tired of the lack of respect that he gets, as he is a two-time WWE Grand Slam Champion. The Miz also shared his belief that Ciampa may be talented, but he has not had success in WWE yet.
“[Ciampa] confronted me? He sucker-punched me. I had my arms wide open. My good buddy, my good friend Tommaso Ciampa is back in WWE. Give me a hug, buddy. He sucker-punches me. That’s the thanks I get for everything I’ve done for him? For all the opportunities I’ve given him? He’s mad that I didn’t call him? ‘Oh, he didn’t call me. He didn’t text me.’ Boo freaking hoo. I don’t call anybody. You call me. We were just in Cleveland, my hometown. You think I called any of my friends that I went to high school, my long-time friends? No. I don’t call them. They call me. They want to hang out with me. I’m the superstar. Do we understand that? Put some respect on my name. I am tired of the lack of respect that I get. I’m the two-time Grand Slam Champion. What’s he done? Granted, he is an immense talent. There is no denying the talent that he has. But he has not done it here in WWE. I’m the veteran. Anything else? No. Because you don’t matter. I matter," The Miz said.
