Becky Lynch picked up right where she left off.
Lynch made a surprise return at WWE SummerSlam, stepping to Bianca Belair and challenging for the SmackDown Women's Championship after it was announced that Sasha Banks was unable to compete.
First, Lynch took out Carmella, who was originally announced as the replacement for Banks, and challenged Belair to a match. Belair had no problem agreeing to the SmackDown Women's Championship match, which turned out to be a big mistake.
They shook hands, Becky landed one punch, hit the Manhandle Slam, and pinned Belair to become the new champion. The match lasted 25 seconds.

The marks the fourth time Becky has held the SmackDown Women's Championship. SummerSlam was her first match since she defeated Shayna Baszler to retain the Raw Women's Championship at WrestleMania 36. Lynch announced her pregnancy on the May 11, 2020 episode of WWE Raw and relinquished the Raw Women's Championship to Asuka on the same night.
