New WWE Champion Crowned At Day 1 2022

New year. New champion. Same Beast.

Brock Lesnar entered Atlanta, Georgia thinking he would finish his rivalry with Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at WWE Day 1. As plans will be, plans will go awry.

WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, tested positive for COVID-19 on the day of the event but that was not going to stop Brock Lesnar in his quest to start the new year with gold. Because Brock Lesnar is a free agent, he was able to be inserted into the WWE Championship match with four Monday Night Raw superstars and if Brock Lesnar is in a championship match, you don't bet against The Beast.

Brock Lesnar pinned incumbent champion, Big E to capture the title and along the way, he left his typical amount of damage and destruction.

One person that Brock Lesnar was not able to definitively put down was Bobby Lashley. Lashley broke the barricade by Spearing Brock Lesnar early in the match and got a near fall on The Beast with a second Spear. Bobby Lashley also had Brock Lesnar securely in The Hurt Lock before Big E broke up the hold and was subsequently dropped by Lesnar, leading to Lesnar's latest championship accolade.
